Participant Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release of Liability

Thank you for participating in programs and events organized by

Toronto International Language Exchange (TILE).

Our goal is to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment where participants can build language skills, make friends, and experience cultural exchange. While we strive to minimize risks, participation in any activity involves some inherent risks.

Please read this agreement carefully before participating.

Participant Information

Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in Toronto International Language Exchange (TILE) programs may include, but is not limited to:

• Language classes

• Conversation groups

• Cultural workshops

• Networking events

• Community outings

• Walking tours

• Recreational activities

• Volunteer activities

• Social gatherings

• Educational presentations

• Online and hybrid programming

  
  

I acknowledge that participation may involve risks including, but not limited to:

• Slips, trips, and falls

• Minor or serious injuries

• Illness

• Allergic reactions

• Transportation-related risks

• Injuries occurring at public venues

• Risks associated with outdoor activities

• Risks associated with interacting with members of the public

*I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in TILE activities (required) and fully release TILE Learning and its parent company Dias Learning Interactive Ltd. from any and all liability. 

Medical Responsibility

I certify that I am physically and medically able to participate in the activities I choose.

I understand that TILE does not provide medical insurance or health coverage for participants.

I agree to seek appropriate medical attention if needed.

In the event of an emergency, I authorize emergency medical treatment if I am unable to provide consent myself.

Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I release and forever discharge:

Toronto International Language Exchange (TILE), its CEO, founders, executives, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, instructors, contractors, sponsors, venue partners, affiliates, and representatives

from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising from or related to my participation in TILE activities, including personal injury, illness, property damage, or other losses, except where caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

Personal Property

I understand that I am responsible for my own belongings.

TILE is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

Participant Code of Conduct

I agree to:

• Treat all participants with respect

• Follow instructions provided by organizers

• Behave responsibly during activities

• Respect venue rules

• Refrain from harassment, discrimination, violence, or inappropriate conduct

• Leave any activity if requested by organizers for safety or behavioural reasons

I understand that failure to comply may result in removal from activities without refund (where applicable).

Transportation

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, I understand that I am responsible for arranging my own transportation to and from TILE activities.

If transportation is organized by TILE, I understand that participation remains voluntary and I assume any associated risks.

Photography and Media

I give permission to Toronto International Language Exchange (TILE) to take photographs and/or videos of me during TILE activities and to use them for the purposes described above.

Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.

Acknowledgement

By signing below, I acknowledge that:

• I have read this entire agreement.

• I understand its contents.

• I understand that I am giving up certain legal rights.

• I voluntarily agree to participate.

• I sign this agreement freely and without coercion.
